SSOE is looking to hire an Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to participate in the design of state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities for the world’s leading high-tech companies.

 

Our I&C Design Engineers will be responsible for working within our design team to create and problem-solve exciting and complex designs that incorporate some of the latest design techniques, while ensuring that all specifications are met, and to ensure timely completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and design a complete system or sub-system that meets the requirements of a project scope, customers requirements, and adheres to company standards. 
  • Analyzes sketches, notes and other input materials to determine and plan the best approach to prepare drawings.
  • May perform routine design calculations for the review of the project engineer/architect and prepares layouts.
  • Design projects that may include:
    • Establishing instrument locations and instrument loop diagrams.
    • Cable sizing for instrumentation and low voltage wiring.
    • Cable tray layout and sizing for instrumentation and low voltage wiring.
    • Schematics for power, control and shutdown circuits, as well as schematics for power and control.
    • DCS panel, PLC panel, junction box, and control layout and schematics.
    • Design of communication systems using, fiber optic cables, profibus and/or Ethernet.
    • AC and DC interconnects as well as conduit and cable schedules.
  • Works under supervision with work effort occasionally checked during progress and reviewed upon completion.
  • Perform field inspections and provide technical services for activities related to construction, equipment installation or modifications.
  • Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all projects.
  • Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. An Associate or Bachelor degree-tracked in engineering or architectural fields is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or other similar CAD programs) and Revit is required.
  • Demonstrated Instrumentation and Controls design or engineer experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $100,000+/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
