Overview

At SSOE, our civil engineers work alongside our multidisciplinary team to design infrastructure systems on various project types. We’re looking for a Civil Engineer to support projects that are diverse both geographically and across a wide range of market sectors—with a particular focus on Commercial projects in the Southeast U.S. In this role, you’ll be able to expand the breadth and depth of your professional experience as you help further enhance our growing regional footprint.

Responsibilities

The position is an onsite role in Columbia, SC that can eventually turn into a hybrid work setting. The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

  • Support commercial developments.
  • Applies design fundamentals to total systems or sub-systems. Interpret and utilize basic topographic information.
  • Address red lines and review comments. Review existing utilities and grading information on as-recorded documents.
  • Perform site development construction drawings to include site layout, grading, water, sewer and storm drainage. 
  • Develops project details, prepares selections and adapts to alternatives.
  • Perform storm water and sanitary sewer design calculations.
  • Works under technical supervision with effort occasionally checked during progress and reviewed upon completion.
  • Some travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering 
  • EIT preferred
  • 2 years of Civil Engineering experience with site land development; layout, grading, drainage, utility design, and erosion control in commercial markets. 
  • Experience using AutoCAD is required and experience with Civil 3D is preferred. 
  • Salary Range: $63,000-$75,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
