We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will engage in the designing, engineering, and implementing of designs for cutting-edge process/chemical systems within state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities serving global leaders in technology. As a Process Engineer at SSOE, you will collaborate with fellow Process Engineers, Design teams, and Senior Project Managers to develop innovative solutions for intricate and challenging designs, incorporating the latest design methodologies while ensuring adherence to specifications and timely project completion. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform process equipment and piping design on projects.
  • Execute process design from conceptual design and criteria development through construction document production and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Perform a variety of engineering assignments under the direction of a Sr. Engineer with increasing responsibility based on performance.
  • Consult with supervisor to screen assignments for unusual or difficult problems and select appropriate methods and techniques to apply and estimate the hours required for the approach.
  • Draft interpretation of design into completed working drawings and apply engineering fundamentals to design.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, process, and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), system layout plans, equipment sizing and selection, and associated specification write-ups.
  • Interface with multiple engineering disciplines, project management, system owners, vendors and contractors via phone, email, and live meetings.
  • Perform engineering calculations and communicate on PC system.
  • Design chemical process systems utilizing pressure loss and stress analysis programs.
  • Coordinate with clients and contractors and lead site walks.
  • Provide technical direction and guides, supports, and develops all levels of staff throughout the department, so that we meet the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Identifies, champions, mentors, and coaches the development of our less experienced staff and looks for ways to elevate the technical and professional expertise of the team.
  • Nurtures and promotes collaboration, communication, strategy, and support within your current team, multidisciplinary teams, and inter-company teams to ensure efficiency, quality, and staff resource sharing.
  • Being available afterhours may be required for deadline days.
  • Limited travel is possible, but not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • Active Professional Engineering licensure (PE) is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is required. Experience with PIPE-FLO, and/or other systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of chemical process systems control philosophy including P&ID development.
  • Experience with the design and engineering of systems that consist of fluid transfer, heat exchange, friction loss in piping systems, ultrapure/high purity water systems, specialty gas and chemical systems, solvent/acid/hazardous wastewater treatment systems or other related systems.
  • Experience performing field verifications and site walks to identify, verify, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. Ability to troubleshoot design problems in the field.
  • Semiconductor experience is preferred.
  • Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
