We are currently hiring a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead the design engineering and shaping the future of advanced industrial, semiconductor, biotech, healthcare, and pharmaceutical facilities for the world’s leading high-tech companies. As a Senior Electrical Engineer at SSOE, you will have a robust foundation in electrical engineering, focusing on low to medium voltage environments, and work closely with our clients, engineering teams, and other professionals to ensure that projects meet and exceed industry standards. If you have a passion for cutting-edge technology, your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the quality, compliance, and innovation of our designs. This position will be a hybrid position, requiring occasional onsite/in-office work when needed. Fully remote or travel work arrangements for this role are not available.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and generate comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligned with both industry standards and client requirements.
  • Design of systems with items such as switchgears, transformers, and distribution panels to control and distribute power to various sections of the facility.
  • Perform short circuit calculations to ascertain fault currents and specify suitable protective devices.
  • Perform precise voltage drop calculations to ensure electrical system stability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Determine conduit and conductor sizing, meticulously accounting for current loads and environmental variables.
  • Assess cable tray fills methodically to guarantee proper cable management, organization, and future scalability.
  • Implementing redundancy and backup systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply and minimize downtime in case of power failures.
  • Integrate UPS systems to provide short-term power backup in case of power fluctuations or outages, ensuring continuous operation of critical equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical designs strictly adhere to pertinent local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Apply established design techniques and exercises discernment in adapting and modifying design concepts as needed. Uphold quality control by adhering to company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Foster collaboration, communication, strategy, and support within your team, multidisciplinary groups (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.), and inter-company teams to optimize efficiency, quality, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct field verifications and site walks to identify, validate, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages. Resolve design issues on-site during construction if necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of practice or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of employment is required.
  • Experience in designing low and medium voltage power distribution for normal, emergency, uninterruptible power distribution systems, and lighting systems and controls for the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, high-tech industrial, or technically related industries.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD & Revit is required. Experience with Navisworks, EasyPower and/or other similar programs is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience performing field verifications and site walks to identify, validate, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages. Ability to troubleshoot design problems on-site during construction.
  • Professional knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), as well as working knowledge of the International Building Code, International Fire Code, and NFPA guidelines.
  • The ability to interface with customers to define scope of work and basis of design.
  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $175,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
