Overview

SSOE is hiring for a dynamic Manager, Software Development to join our growing Technology team. The Software Development Manager leads a dynamic team of developers, driving innovation and excellence in software solutions aligned with organizational goals. This role is responsible for strategic planning, project execution, and team development within a collaborative, global environment. The Software Development Manager works closely with Senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure technology initiatives support business objectives, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusively, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include

  • Team Leadership: Lead the software development team by setting clear expectations, understanding team members’ motivations and facilitating career development within a collaborative and positive work environment. Empower a global, inclusive, and healthy team culture while driving excellence in our solutions and outcomes.
  • Strategy Development: Work closely with Directors, organizational leaders, and Manager peers to influence SSOE’s technology strategy and leverage applications that align with SSOE’s strategic and tactical goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior management, and other stakeholders to ensure projects and resources align with business objectives. Communicate progress and results effectively.
  • Project Management/Resource Management: Plan and deliver development projects, ensuring they meet the required quality standards and adhere to schedule, budget and scope. Evaluate the resources, skills, and talent pool needed to complete the work, which may include contract and/or global resources.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate, coach, and mentor team members. Effectively manage both local and remote/global resources. This includes career planning, training and development responsibilities, as well as hiring and corrective action duties.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to incrementally and continuously improve processes and outcomes with technology. Be action-oriented while keeping quality characteristics a priority (e.g. scalability, security, maintainability, etc.)
  • Technology & Data Governance: Partner with the business and SSOE’s IT organization to align with our security, redundancy, and sustainability standards. Design and implement processes or workflows as needed to improve quality.
  • Technology and Tools: Keep up to date with software development industry advances. Able to evaluate, maintain, and recommend tools and technologies that align with, and enable, SSOE’s strategic direction.
  • Travel: To support operational needs, team development, and project support as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications You’ll Need on Day One:

  • 10+ years of diverse professional experience in Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Architecture, Data Science, Software Development, or related fields.
  • 5-8 years of demonstrated leadership and management of a technology team, showcasing a track record of driving quality outcomes and delivering value.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in Agile/Lean project management techniques as well as quality standards and best practices with SDLC.
  • Experience in managing global resources including consultant engagements to scale teams for specific business or project.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies, including Azure, SQL Server, ASP.NET, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Integration Services.
  • Experience with Autodesk platform is preferred.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps, Jira, etc., for work management, continuous integration and deployment is also preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills, including experience presenting to different audiences: executives, management, clients, end users, and peers.
  • Salary Range: $145,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
